How An Embedment Is Built

Matched to what the village actually needs.

Embedments start from a village-submitted need, not a diaspora wish-list. This keeps the exchange honest and useful on both sides.

StageWhat happens
Village submits a need A council or local coordinator lists open roles — a teacher, an irrigation engineer, a clinic nurse, a Gen Z Solution Squad mentor, a small-business advisor.
Diaspora members apply Members browse open placements and apply with relevant skills, availability, and, where applicable, their existing village citizenship.
Matching & approval DR coordinates with the village council to confirm the match, the length of stay, housing, and the terms of the placement.
Orientation Members receive a briefing on the village, host family or housing arrangement, local customs, and their specific role before arrival.
On-ground embedment Members live and work in the village for the agreed period, checking in with DR coordination and the village council throughout.
Placement Types

Three shapes an embedment can take.

Seasonal

One planting or harvest cycle

Short, defined placements — often agricultural, educational, or event-based — for members testing reconnection before committing longer.

Standing

A year or more, renewable

Roles that need continuity: teaching posts, clinic staffing, workshop instructors, or Gen Z Solution Squad mentors based in one village.

Return-and-Repeat

Annual recurring stays

Members who return to the same village every year for a fixed window — common among citizens who keep a professional base abroad.

Who Embedments Are For

Not a homestay. A working relationship with the village.

Skilled Professionals

Bring a trade the village needs

Engineers, health workers, teachers, agronomists, and technicians filling a role the village itself identified as missing.
